Getting Involved

ACM offers many opportunities for you to get involved with our organization. We offer events and programs that cater to academics, professional development, community service, and social engagement. Members can RSVP for all events on 1891Connect. All events for Fall 2020 will be virtual. Read more to learn how to get involved.

Attend GBMs and Partner Events

The primary way to get involved is to attend our General Body Meetings (GBMs) and our company sponsored events. At our GBMs is where all of our member get together and important announcements and updates are presented. GBMs will also include a special presentation portion from special guests, panel discussions, small competitions, and more. ACM hosts at least two GBMs a month. GBMs are held every other Tuesday at 7:30PM EST. Throughout the year we also host company sponsored events where an invited company will come out and present about their company, network with our members, and engage in other fun activities.

Get Involved in Community Service

We are an organization that serves our community. Throughout the year ACM and our members have the opportunity to get invovled with community service. All ACM members are required to have completed 10 hours of community service each semester. Our Miss ACM and Mister ACM provide a variety of different opportunities and projects to get invovled in.

Check Out a Special Interest Group

Computing and technology are broad fields. That is why our organization offers Special Interests Groups or SIGs. SIGs are unique to ACM. SIGs allow members to explore and discover different areas of computing and tech. Members will be able to learn more and get involved with what interest them. It's easy to get involved with a SIG. There is no separate registration process. If you are a member of ACM then you enjoy the benefit of joining and attending events held by any of our SIGs.

STARs Program

Are you a first-year student or transfer student? If so then our STARs mentorship program is a great program for you. The STARS program matches first-year and transfer students with mentors in the fall for a semester long mentorship program. The STARs program will ensure that students are prepared to be successful for the first year at NC A&T. Our mentees will be able to build relationships with others and receive guidance from someone who was once in their shoes.
